Location
Hull & Humber’s position is truly at the heart of the UK, with the city being an equidistant 200 miles from London and Edinburgh, 100 miles from Manchester and less than an hour’s drive from Leeds and York. Hull & Humber has excellent road links, 2 international airports and a thriving ferry terminal that handles over a million passengers a year as they pass to and from Europe. It’s easy to see why Hull & Humber’s connectivity is attracting investment from across the UK and Europe.
By sea
Building on our unique location and ports connectivity, the Hull & Humber is the UK’s busiest trading estuary. Hull & Humber’s closeness to the UK’s heartland with 40m people and 75% of UK manufacturing within a 4 hour drive makes it an increasingly important hub for trade and industry.
P&O Ferries handle over 1 million passengers a year on its daily services between Hull and Rotterdam/Zeebrugge. The company operates the two largest cruise ferries ever built from Hull.
By rail
Hull Trains, Hull’s award winning rail operators, provides 6 direct train services daily to/from London – with a journey time of as little as 2.5 hours. The railway line itself is an underused asset and its capacity could easily be increased.
There are also plans for the development of an inter-modal network in the city-region.
By air
Humberside Airport is just a 30 minute drive from Hull's city centre and forms part of the Manchester Airport Group. It serves in excess of half a million passengers a year. Holiday charter flights are the airport’s largest service and scheduled services are predominantly made up by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines who operate four daily services to Amsterdam's Schipol Airport, this link provides an additional 300 worldwide connections. The Airport also has regular services to Aberdeen supported by the areas growing offshore presence.
Humberside Airport is also home to the second largest heliport in the country, serving up to 54 North Sea oil and gas rigs.
The new Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport is also within a 45 minute drive of the city of Hull and Leeds Bradford is accessible within a 90 minute drive.
