Ports and Logistics

Hull & Humber Ports is number one for UK shipping tonnage and is the largest ports complex in the UK. Its success story looks set to continue indefintely as international trade booms and the UK's southern based ports face increased congestion.

In 2007, the Hull & Humber Ports handled over 92 million tonnes, representing more than 16% of the UK’s seaborne trade.

With significant new investments in ports infrastructure, landside development sites and rapid access to the UK distribution network, Hull & Humber is uniquely placed for further growth in areas connected to its ports activity including added-value logistics, manufacturing/distribution centres and Chemical/Energy-related investments. In addition, pioneering developments such as the University of Hull's Logistics Institute and the provision of specialist training programmes at other learning providers looks set to cement Hull & Humber's position as the UK's centre of excellence in this field.
