Barclays Commercial move to new prestigious offices at Two Humber Quays
Hull’s new waterfront business district, Humber Quays, has attracted the attention of another high profile company as Barclays Commercial prepare to move into new offices at Two Humber Quays.
The major financial services provider will occupy 4,085 sq ft of the high quality office space, which has been developed by leading regeneration specialist, Priority Sites.
The Barclays announcement marks an important investment in the city, and a very successful first year for the Grade A speculative office building, which is fast becoming a thriving hub for the city’s business community. Barclays will join PricewaterhouseCoopers in the new building and will relocate members of their existing local banking team, supported by staff relocating from regional centres in Leeds and Sheffield along with four new recruits. The initial team of 16 will serve Hull, the East Riding and North Lincolnshire with staff expected to move in later this month.
Stephen Hanson, Relationship Manager at Barclays Commercial Bank, commented: “Previous to this announcement, we have not had an office presence in Hull for five years and consequently we are keen to re-establish a base in the city. We recognise that Hull is a growing region which is already benefitting from significant new investment in terms of its ongoing regeneration strategy and our investment in these stunning premises reflects our strong desire to strengthen our customer base here in addition to building effective relationships with the business community.”
He added: “The quality of these new modern offices is truly exceptional and the combination of this accessible location and the expertise of our team mean that we are ideally placed to offer innovative and flexible solutions to a wide variety of customers and clients in Hull and the surrounding area who will be able to benefit from our services.”
Bill Skilki, Chief Executive of Priority Sites, said; “Since we completed the building we have seen significant interest from major corporate occupiers. We have worked very hard, in conjunction with Hull Forward and Hull City Council, to bring forward an innovative and contemporary office building that will meet the demands of the modern business.
“It is testament to the quality of the scheme that we are welcoming high profile occupiers such as Barclays to Two Humber Quays and we are delighted to be playing such a significant role in the future prosperity of the city.”
John Holmes, Chief Executive of Hull Forward, said: “We are delighted to secure Barclays Commercial as the latest tenant at Humber Quays and are looking forward to working closely with them as an important part of our broadening business community.”
He continued: “Humber Quays has quickly established a reputation for being Hull’s most sought after business address and already provides a home to The Royal Bank of Scotland, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the recently launched World Trade Centre Hull & Humber. The rapidly developing complex also incorporates Freedom Quay, a new striking residential development which is due to complete next month and will add to the area’s vibrancy. The high level of interest we are continuing to receive from prospective tenants looking to take space in Humber Quays clearly demonstrates the ready demand for high quality office accommodation in the city.”
Two Humber Quays comprises 35,079 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation. Suites are currently available ranging in size from 1,575 sq ft through to 5,200 sq ft. It is anticipated the project will create and retain 250 jobs for the city when it is fully occupied.
